Tarima Hill It is a product from vineyards with Denomination of Origin Alicante, one of the best known regions in the production of wine in Spain.
Small plots of vineyards between 40 and 75 years old with very low yields, all scattered through the Sierra de la Sima in the heart of Alicante. Cultivated in "glass" system under natural conditions (almost organic), without irrigation. The combination of these characteristics of the land and the difference in altitude that this small area has establish a predominantly continental microclimate, with Mediterranean influences with high thermal variations between day and night. All these conditions result in a balanced acidity and sugar content. You have a rest of 14 months in French oak barrels.
The region was inhabited more than 7000 years ago since then it has been producing wine. Historians indicate the production of wine since the Roman Period and it is believed that in the region grapes were grown in the Greek, Phoenician and Carthaginian period. There is evidence of human occupation since the prehistoric period. The "amphora" type vessels to transport the wine were probably produced and used here. Witness to this is the diverse crowd of archaeological artifacts exhibited in the museums of the region. Agriculture has been sustained over time, surviving the impressive plagues, including those of oidium and phylloxera, this was possible mainly due to its geographical position, combined with its viticultural field. The dominant variety of the area is MONASTRELL , thanks to its ability to adapt to extreme weather conditions as well as low rainfall.
The vineyards of Tarima Hill they are located between Sierra de Salinas , Sierra de El Altet and Sierra de la Sima and grow at a height of 600-750 meters above sea level . Vineyards between 40-75 years of age, grown in a "glass" system under natural conditions (almost organic) without risk. The combination of the characteristics of the land and the difference in altitude that this small area has establish a microclimate, predominantly continental, but with Mediterranean influences. The winters are cold, with snow on the highest peaks. Winter temperatures can reach between 7° and 24°C. Summers are hot and dry during the day: temperatures can reach up to 46º. The average amount of rainfall is 150 mm / mc per year, which represents a third compared to the Rioja region. All these conditions result in a balanced acidity and sugar content.
